Suicide Squad 2 could soon be adding John Cena to its cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor John Cena is currently in early talks to join the cast of 2016’s Suicide Squad sequel.

Though Cena is no stranger to action movies, the deal would mark the former WWE star’s first foray into the world of comic book adaptations.

The second installment of the villainous anti-hero flick finds Guardians of the Galaxy helmer James Gunn talking over writing and directing duties from David Ayer.

Unfortunatley, fans interested in knowing who Cena will portray in Suicide Squad 2 will have to sit tight. There’s currently no word on what role the actor, who was last seen in Bumblebee, will be playing.

If he signs on, Cena would be joining fellow recently announced cast member Idris Elba.

We learned of the Luther star’s involvement on the project just last month when it was rumored he might be taking over the role of Will Smith’s Deadshot.

Later, it was clarified that Elba would instead be taking on a completely new role in the upcoming sequel.

The newcomers are set to join actress Margot Robbie, who will be returning to reprise her role as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad 2.

Sucide Squad 2 is slated to hit theaters on August 6, 2021.
