Hypable is looking to add a few new writers to its ranks!
As you know, Hypable is a by fans, for fans resource. We write about what we love and we let our passions shine through our words. We currently have a few writing positions we’re looking to fill:
- Streaming TV: For the first time ever we’re looking for two writers who will write exclusively about original content on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. With so many original shows on streaming services these days, we’ve decided we need a couple people to write only about these streaming shows. We want you to write about the latest releases (many of which we receive early access to) as well as episodic twists that people might be Googling about in the months and years ahead as they get their binge on. We’ll want you to prioritize the biggest shows on Netflix and Hulu. We also want to jump on the hype train as soon as it leaves the station. Remember how 13 Reasons Why suddenly blew up? When a show like that comes along, we want to cover it quickly and passionately.
- Movies: We’re looking for someone who can analyze the biggest movies hitting theaters on any given week. We want you to write about easter eggs, little-known-facts, and comment on what movies are saying about today’s society. You’ll need to have a strong handle on Hollywood’s positives and negatives and the box office blockbusters. We also want you to write FUN pieces from time to time! Create an intriguing personality quiz; write a ridiculous article about something that really bugged you in a particular movie; rank a collection of films based on a surprising premise. (Note: We’re not looking for a movie reviewer. We’re already covered in that department!)
Requirements for both of these positions: We are looking for people who can commit to writing two smart, original, in-depth features per week. We’ll want you to pitch ideas and work with us to develop the best features possible. You must think with Google in mind — for every article you should be asking yourself, “Is this the type of topic people will be searching for?”
Not required, but encouraged: You’re an expert in the comic book/TV/movie space. We need to hire at least one person who can write passionately about Marvel and DC-related news (particularly the big TV shows and movies).
These are volunteer positions for now, but by late this year or early next you will be paid per article. Hypable can also offer college internship credits should you need them.
