Stranger Things season 1 gave us eight episodes of amazing television, but it also left us with a ton of questions for season 2.

When I finished my eight-hour, non-stop binge session of Stranger Things season 1, I was actually left extremely satisfied. The Demogorgon was defeated, the town was safe again, and there was even a glimpse of hope that the world’s new collective daughter, Eleven, may have lived to fight another day.

Sure, there were a few loose ends and some interesting questions to ponder, but all in all, the story felt reasonably concluded. Then, when I finally got the soothing sounds of ’80s synth pop out of my brain, shook off the Netflix coma, and actually thought about what I had consumed, I realized that we know absolutely nothing about this world!

Update: On August 31, Netflix announced that Stranger Thing season 2 is official! And there will be nine episodes!

The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers, have spoken a little bit about what season 2 could look like, including revealing that it will be “like a sequel,” and that there will be a one year time jump. Other than that, the doors are open for speculation! Here are some questions to get you started. You can leave yours in the comments!

  1. Is there even going to be a Stranger Things season 2?
  2. Since there obviously will be, when will it be released?
  3. Will season 2 keep the eight-episode format, or will they choose to tell a longer (or shorter) story?
  4. Is Eleven still alive?
  5. If not, how the hell are we supposed to go on with our lives?
  6. If she is still alive, is she lost somewhere in our dimension, in the Upside Down, or somewhere else entirely?
  7. Could that mean that the Demogorgon is still alive as well?
  8. Is Eleven taking Hopper’s waffles?
  9. If she is, what’s stopping her from staying and hanging out with her friends?
  10. Has she decided that the world is a terrible place and that Eggos are the only thing worth living for?
  11. If/when we see her again, will she still be the same perfect angel that we fell in love with, or could defeating the Demogorgon have left her irreparably damaged?
  12. What, exactly, is the process for adopting a fictional child?
  13. What the hell happened to 000-010?
  14. Did they all have the same abilities as Eleven, or did they all have different powers like a band of X-men?
  15. Could we meet them in Stranger Things season 2 at the Hawkins Lab or in a shadow realm?
  16. Will we see more flashbacks of Eleven’s (or the other kids’) time spent at the Hawkins Lab?
  17. Does Eleven have even more powers that we’ve yet to discover?
  18. Was Dr. Brenner really Eleven’s father, or did he just convince her to call him Papa?
  19. If he’s not, who is her father?
  20. Is Dr. Brenner still alive, or was he killed by the Demogorgon at Hawkins High School?
  21. Will Nancy stay with Steve, or eventually give in to her feelings for Jonathan?
  22. Will Steve’s character continue to be interesting in Stranger Things season 2 since he’s already completed his redemptive arc?
  23. Could the three of them just all be best friends and fight against evil together on the weekends?
  24. Is there any possibility of Barb miraculously coming back to life (please) and joining this evil-fighting gang?
  25. When will Steve’s douchebag friends get what’s coming to them?
  26. Will Troy be out for revenge after being bested by Eleven twice?
  27. How will Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will ever be able to appreciate a Dungeons & Dragons campaign again after their epic adventure?
  28. Could another popular ’80s toy, board game or role playing game be featured in the Stranger Things season 2 plot line?
  29. Like an Etch-a-Sketch, Date Line, or even Connect Four?
  30. Will Dustin’s teeth ever come in?
  31. Will Holly Wheeler continue to steal every damn scene around the Wheeler dinner table?
  32. What is going on with Will Byers and those slugs?
  33. Will he be okay, with just the occasional unfortunate side effect of vomiting slugs, or will he gradually fall deeper into the world of the Upside Down?
  34. Is he actually becoming a Demogorgon himself?
  35. Will Hopper, Joyce and Nancy be affected in a similar way since they were all exposed to the toxic air in the Upside Down?
  36. Are they feeling the effects now and just suffering in silence like Will is, or will their symptoms take longer to develop since they had less exposure?
  37. Was there only one Demogorgon haunting the Upside Down?
  38. Eleven opened the gate to the shadow realm in the Hawkins Lab, but did she open the gate in the forest at the same time, or was it already there?
  39. The Demogorgon didn’t have any trouble getting into the Byers’ household or Hawkins High School even though there were no gates there, so are the gates simply to allow humans to get through to the Upside Down?
  40. If the Demogorgon could get through to our dimension before the gate in the Hawkins Lab was opened, why had nobody ever seen it before?
  41. How did it survive if it wasn’t coming to our dimension for blood?
  42. Since it seems to be able to survive perfectly well in our dimension, why doesn’t it just stay here?
  43. Since we know the Demogorgon is drawn to blood and we witnessed it eating a deer, why was Barb’s body left untouched?
  44. If it doesn’t eat humans, why does it bother hunting them?
  45. Does it somehow use humans for reproduction (GROSS. I hated even writing this question), or something else?
  46. What hatched from the egg that Hopper saw in the Upside Down?
  47. Do the other creatures in the dimension, like the slugs that we saw in the bodies, pose a threat as well?
  48. Where are the other people who were taken by the Demogorgon?
  49. Is the Upside Down the only alternate dimension connected to Hawkins, or could Stranger Things season 2 explore some other shadow realms?
  50. Where did Hopper go with the government agents after Will was saved?
  51. Is the government forcing him to work with the Hawkins Lab now?
  52. Will he keep his word and not spill the secrets of the lab, or will he eventually expose them?
  53. Does he know for a fact that Eleven is taking the Eggos, or does he just hope that she’s alive and getting them?
  54. Now that Hawkins has real problems, will Hopper get some more competent colleagues?
  55. Will Hopper and Joyce ever get together and raise a perfect little half Demogorgon family?
  56. When will Hawkins realize that the Byers children the best people in the town and stop questioning Joyce’s sanity/parenting skills?
  57. Is it possible to redeem Will’s father in Stranger Things season 2, or is he too much of a prick?
  58. Are there any ’80s shows/movies/trends/songs that Stranger Things has yet to reference?
  59. Will the soundtrack and/or score ever be available to purchase? Update: YES!
  60. Or literally any merchandise that we can throw all of our money at?

Now that I’ve gotten all of my questions off my chest, and can finally breathe again, it’s your turn! Let me know if you agree/disagree with any of these in the comments below.
