Last week The Duffer Brothers announced they would do a third season of their hit Netflix series Stranger Things. But what about season 2?
Showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer confirmed that season 3 of Stranger Things is officially happening. They also hinted at a fourth and final season. This is big news, considering the second season premieres on October 27.
Now that we know there’s a third installment to the series, here’s what I want to know in season 2.
What’s going to happen to Will?
The last time we see Will, he coughs out a part of the upside down into the sink, washing it away before anyone sees. Then the season 2 trailer shows Will having visions of the upside down.
Does this mean he’s going to be like Eleven in that he can sense and contact the other dimension? What happens if you come back to the right side up and part of the upside down stays inside you. Does it grow like a cancer? Is Will going to die for real this time? Is he going to become a demigorgon?!
I have lots of feelings.
What’s Eleven been up to?
Eleven sacrificed herself at the end of season 1 to save her friends from the demigorgon and send it back to the upside down. By doing so, she either died or sent herself to the upside with it. I’m guessing the latter as the season 2 trailer shows Eleven reaching through the portal back to the Hawkins Middle School we know.
I wonder how long El’s been stuck in the upside down, or has she been back all along? When Hopper left the Eggo’s for her, was it more than a tribute and actual sustenance?
Has El just been hiding and waiting for the demigorgon to come back, or have the suits picked her up again? Has she honed her powers even more?
What happened to Hopper?
At the end of season 1, we saw those scary government dudes pick up Hopper at the hospital and take him away. Then flashforward to Christmas, and Hopper’s leaving Eggo’s for Eleven in the woods.
I don’t know what those dudes did to Hopper, but I know it wasn’t pleasant. I also know it’s linked to the clip of Hopper investigating some sticky upside down material on a tree in the season 2 trailer.
Sheriff Hopper’s one of the most troubled characters on the show, and I just want to know if he’ll find some peace or not.
Season 2 of Stranger Things premieres on October 27. I hope it’ll answer my questions. Knowing there are third and fourth installments in the works, though, I have a feeling the second season will live up to its tagline and only get stranger.
