David Harbour will take over the role of Hellboy from Ron Perlman, in what is unfortunately not a continuation of the Guillermo del Toro saga.

David Harbour of Stranger Things fame might have lost out on the role as Deadpool‘s Cable, but he’s found an equally gritty project: an R-rated reboot of Hellboy directed by Neil Marshall.

The comic book series was first adapted for the big screen by Guillermo del Toro in 2004, with Ron Perlman in the lead role. After a sequel in 2008 fans were hoping for a third movie, but after initially trying to make it happen, del Toro had to abandon the project earlier this year.

Instead we’re getting a reboot, with David Harbour as Hellboy, the R-rated movie potentially directed by Game of Thrones‘s Neil Marshall.

The news was broken by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, who wrote on Facebook:

“Okay, here’s some news–
There IS going to be another HELLBOY MOVIE.
It’s going to be an R rated reboot directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) and staring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy.
More news to come soon–“

What do you think? Are you here for an R-rated Hellboy reboot, or would you rather have had a third Guillermo del Toro movie?
