The Stranger Things 3 trailer is here, and the new season isn’t just bringing new monsters, it’s bringing a new era for the Hawkins AV Club.
The kids of Stranger Things have been through a great deal. Losing and searching for their friend to a mysterious and dangerous alternate universe, gaining a friend with mysterious and dangerous powers from that plane, running from evil government organizations, running from powerful and terrifying monsters, and much more.
But this season, the gang is about the embark on the most terrifying journey of all: becoming teenagers.
As anyone who has lived through those early teenage years can attest, figuring out who you are and the person you want to become and how your childhood friends fit into that is a really tough journey — even without the powers, monsters, shadow organizations, and the alternate plane continuing to burp out terrors that threaten to consume us all.

So while Mike, Eleven, Max, Lucas, Dustin, and Will embark on this journey of “not being kids anymore,” they also have to, you know, save the world. No big deal, right?
There’s just so much to love in this trailer, it’s hard to know where to start. While the end of last season painted Eleven and Max sort of at odds over Mike, it seems that the show chose to set the tired idea of a love triangle aside and have made the two girls friends. We only see a flash of it, but it looks like the two even get glamour shots together, and we are already LIVING for this friendship.
Speaking of unlikely friendships, Steve and Dustin’s friendship has only gotten closer (and more hilariously adorable) since last season. Also, though the trailer doesn’t show the two in the same frame, we’ve got to know: is the trailer implying that Joyce and Hopper are dating?
Also, while the trailer mainly shows Billy at his summer job as a lifeguard, one troubling shot of him in the shower has us wondering what exactly is going on with Billy’s arm. Is he injured, or does this season’s monster have the power to transform its victims?
We’ve got a lot of questions, but one thing is for sure: this season is going to be an amazing one. We are so excited to see how our favorite group of friends deals with growing up while also carrying the responsibility of saving the world AGAIN.
It has been a long wait for this new season, but happily, we only have a few more months left to wait. Get ready to return to Hawkins on July 4 when Stranger Things 3 premieres on Netflix.
