David Harbour has officially wrapped Stranger Things 3 and is dropping some hints on the character’s ultimate fate.

Stranger Things 3 may have just recently finished shooting, but that doesn’t mean that the show’s cast and crew aren’t looking forward to the future. Sheriff Jim Hopper himself, David Harbour, recently discussed the fate of the show and his iconic character, and according to Harbour, he already knows what’s in store for Hopper.

While it’s still not clear if Stranger Things will run for a total of 4 or 5 seasons, Harbour told CNET that the Duffer Brothers aren’t flying by the seat of their pants when it comes to the show’s storyline. The Duffers know where they are taking the story in the coming seasons, and that’s something David Harbour is particularly proud of.

“I feel very proud of that because we’re not going to get sort of lost in our story and leave these strands. We’re going to tie things up. Like Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi have an arc to them; I think Stranger Things, be it season 4 or season 5, has an arc to it that I understand.”

However, Harbour didn’t just talk about the arc of the show as a whole. He also explained that not only does he know the fate of his character. Obviously, he didn’t share any deets on Hopper’s fate, but he did say that he’s known what will ultimately in store for Hopper “since Day One.”

Stranger Things 2 was a huge season for Hopper as he won our hearts with his delightful dad-dancing and how perfectly he stepped into the role of adoptive father to Eleven. We cannot wait to see where Hopper’s story travels in Stranger Things 3 and beyond.

Harbour recently wrapped shooting for Stranger Things 3, and he posted about it (and shaving his Hopper mustache) in a cryptic Instagram post.

Of course, we’ll have to wait for a trailer for Stranger Things 3 to get any more concrete information on what’s in store for us when we return to Hawkins, Indiana. However, it’s nice to know that the Duffers have a plan for where they’re taking the series and our friends from Hawkins.

Stranger Things 3 doesn’t yet have a release date, but we do know it will hit Netflix in 2019 — let’s just hope Netflix means early 2019.
