After quite a long wait, Netflix finally announced the premiere date of Stranger Things 3 with a brand new teaser.

It feels like it’s been an eternity since Stranger Things 2 dropped on Netflix in October of 2017. After waiting over a calendar year for new episodes of the mega-hit series to arrive, Netflix gave us all a New Year’s Eve present by finally announcing the premiere date for Stranger Things 3. And just like it’s done with previous announcements about the series, the date was announced with a cryptic teaser.

The date announcement teaser doesn’t give us a lot in the way of plot — we don’t even get to see any of the cast members (though we do hear Mike shout for Eleven). What the trailer does reveal to us, apart from the July 4 premiere, is that Stranger Things 3 will take place in 1985.

Of course, this is Stranger Things, so the date announcement teaser also has some mysterious messages interspersed throughout the video. The New Year’s Eve broadcast gets interrupted by some computer code that reveals a bizarre message, “When blue and yellow meet in the west,” and later we see the words SilverCat feeds flash on the screen.

Netflix also released a poster for the new season with the ominous tagline of, “One summer can change everything.” The poster is pretty straightforward, featuring Mike and Eleven (who are holding hands, which is just too precious), and the rest of the gang watching Independence Day fireworks. However, it’s not all fireworks fun as there is definitely something creepy inching its way forward at bottom of the image that Eleven and Will are watching.

What do the messages from the video mean, what is creeping towards Hawkins in the poster, and what do they have to do with Eleven, the super-mysterious Department of Energy in Hawkins, and the monsters from the Upside Down? We’ll have to wait until Stranger Things 3 drops to fully understand. Luckily, we finally have an official premiere date to mark on our calendars.

The fun in the Upside Down kicks off when Stranger Things 3 drops on Netflix on July 4. Get ready, mouth-breathers!
