This week, a new report claims that despite the on again off again status of Steve Carell’s appearance on The Office series finale, he will in fact not be there.

Deadline.com today reported that despite the most recent rumor that Steve Carell will indeed appear in the series finale of The Office, the official press release that lists all the guest stars that will be there did not include Steve Carell’s name.

The one-hour series finale will feature Mindy Kaling (Kelly), BJ Novak (Ryan Howard), Rachael Harris, Dakota Johnson, Joan Cusack, Ed Begley Jr, Malcolm Barrett, Matt Jones, Andy Buckley, Mike Schur and Bobby Ray Shafer.

The information stated by Deadline also reported on some details that we can expect from the finale:

According to the storyline: Months after the airing of the documentary, the workers of Dunder Mifflin, past and present, gather for a wedding and a final round of interviews. Mysteries are solved, hatchets are buried, pranks are prunked.

With conflicting reports all around, it was hard to believe whether or not Steve Carell would reprise his role as the beloved Michael Scott in The Office series finale or not. With this press release, it seems that it most likely is certain we will not get the finale most Office fans were hoping to have. Then again, a surprise cameo would not shock us.
