Stephenie Meyer is hitting the road to celebrate the release of Midnight Sun!

Looks like the current coronavirus pandemic won’t be stopping Twilight author Stephenie Meyer from celebrating the release of Midnight Sun with Twihards far and wide.

On Friday (July 3), Stephenie Meyer took to her official website to announce plans for a Midnight Sun book tour— albeit, one with safety precautions in place to make sure everyone can still practice social distancing!

“This is my big Midnight Sun tour announcement! YAY! Only don’t get excited, because it could all be cancelled. Temper your expectations! FUN!” wrote the author.

As Meyer goes on to explain, the plan for her book tour as it stands currently, is for her to attend two in-person events on August 6 and August 8. One event will be held on the west coast, and one on the east coast, though no locations have been set for either yet.

So how will Meyer and her team pull it off while also ensuring everyone practices social distancing? By taking advantage of Drive-In theaters!

“If we can arrange this as we want to, attendees will never leave the security of their own cars. I’ll be up in front with a microphone to answer all your Midnight Sun questions, and signed bookplates will be safely distributed,” continues the author in her post.

As if getting to hear Meyer speak on the long-awaited book which gives us Twilight from Edward’s perspective isn’t exciting enough, fans who attend one of the two drive-in book tour stops will also be able to stick around and enjoy a special screening of the first film.

In addition, Meyer put fans who might not be conveniently located to either of the two locations at ease by announcing a few digital events.

On top of the TBD drive-in dates, she’ll also be participating in two virtual events, one of which will be ticketed, while the other is open to the public.

In addition, Meyer also teased an upcoming contest where fans can enter to spend some time with the author in a much more intimate setting.

“Check back soon for info about my contest, How to win an intimate evening with Stephenie Meyer, your favorite bookstore, and twenty friends. We’ll come up with a better name,” added Meyer. “I so wish we could meet more easily in person, but my main priority is keeping everyone healthy.”

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer officially debuts on August 4, 2020.
