Twilight author Stephenie Meyer is teasing a forthcoming announcement on her official website.

A countdown is ticking down to Monday with a picture of outer space behind the clock. Fans immediately started wondering if Meyer was about to announce the long-awaited Twilight spinoff Midnight Sun, or a sequel to The Host.

Hypable has strong reason to believe Meyer will be announcing Midnight Sun on Monday.

Midnight Sun is the first Twilight Saga book but from Edward Cullen’s perspective. Meyer had been working on the book over 10 years ago before an early draft of the manuscript leaked, causing the author to halt her work on it. Meyer later said that she had resumed working on it again — until Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James announced Grey, which was the first Fifty Shades novel from Christian’s perspective.

After the leak, she decided to release an incomplete draft on her website, which is still accessible today.

In October 2015, Meyer told Hypable that she felt the publication of Midnight Sun was “cursed.”

“I’m [still] working on it,” she said. “I didn’t completely shelve it because of [Grey]. It was just that — I was telling this story — it feels like it’s cursed. Because every time I start it, something happens and it’s just like, ‘ugh.’ But… my mother is going to kill me if I don’t [finish] it. It’s more true than you know. This is all she wants from me. Every birthday, every Christmas present I get her, [she goes,] ‘You know what I really want.’ This is my life.”

Meyer has published several Twilight spinoff books outside of the original four-part saga, including an encyclopedia and a gender-bent Twilight called Life and Death. But Midnight Sun is the spinoff that fans have been clamoring for most, and now it seems we’re about to receive our wish.
