Colbert’s Late Show will broadcast live from New York with special guests and convention correspondents.

Although Jon Stewart has been absent from the Daily Show desk for nearly a year, don’t expect him to sit out the upcoming Democratic and Republican conventions entirely. Stewart will be making an appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday (July 18) when Colbert kicks off two weeks of live shows covering the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. The details of Stewart’s upcoming appearance are not entirely clear, but he’ll likely show up in a cameo or recorded segment (he has made several other appearances on Colbert’s Late Show). If we can’t have Stewart covering the conventions himself, this certainly seems like the next best thing.

Rumor has it that Stewart will be appearing on multiple episodes of The Late Show as the conventions continue over the next two weeks.

As the Republican National Convention carries on, Colbert’s guests will include Daily Show correspondent Lewis Black on Wednesday as well as United States Senator Elizabeth Warren (who’d like to teach at Ilvermorny) on Thursday. When the Democrats take the stage the following week, Last Week Tonight host John Oliver will be one of Colbert’s guests Wednesday evening as well as other political figures throughout the week.

Colbert’s two weeks of convention coverage, which have been titled “The 2016 Trumpublican Donational Coventrump—Starring Donald Trump as the Republican Party* *May Contain Traces of Republican” and “The 2016 Democratic National Convincing — A Technically Historic Event: Death. Taxes. Hillary.”, will also include reports from correspondents live in Cleveland and Philadelphia. Colbert himself will remain in New York with his guests and audience.

And one last tantalizing tease: Colbert teased in a recent interview that his Colbert Report persona may be making a return during his convention specials. We certainly hope so!
