The Salvatore family is getting back together on tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, titled “I Never Could Love Like That.”

Last time on ‘The Vampire Diaries’

The last we saw the Salvatores, Damon had just rescued his mother Lily from her 1903 purgatory world, leaving six of her friends behind. But don’t worry, those friends (who were desiccated) found their new life in the form of Kai, who Bonnie and Elena left in the 1903 world as punishment for his evil deeds.

Oh, and we can’t forget the fact that Bonnie brought Damon a gift with her from 1994: The cure! She’d gone to find the 1994 version of it in the prison world and gave it to Damon to use as he’d like. Will he give it to Elena, or will he give it to his mother? We’ll have to wait and see!

This week, Stefan meets his maker. Literally.

The synopsis for the episode reads, “With their humanity turned off, Stefan and Caroline begin wreaking havoc at Whitmore, leaving Damon to come up with a risky plan involving Lily. After rushing to help Jo treat victims of Stefan and Caroline’s latest killing spree, Elena discovers Jo is pregnant, prompting her to reevaluate her own life as a vampire. Meanwhile, when Sarah boldly turns the tables on an unsuspecting Enzo, he is forced to open up about his tragic past. Lastly, at Scull Bar, a twisted round of karaoke leaves Tyler and Matt in a dangerous situation.”

With the news that Nina Dobrev is leaving The Vampire Diaries, the above synopsis makes it abundantly clear that Elena will likely be getting the cure, since she’s “reevaluating her own life as a vampire.” With only a few episodes left until the end of season 6, it seems like the clearest way to go.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ airs at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on the CW
