The newest Stargirl trailer gives us more background on Brec Bassinger’s Courtney Whitmore and offers a longer look at the Justice Society of America.

The first Stargirl trailer introduced us to Courtney Whitmore, the young teen who will go on to become the titular Stargirl, and her relationship with the Cosmic Staff.

This second trailer provides more backstory on Whitmore and her family, while also delving into the members and legacy of the Justice Society of America, the first superhero group ever assembled, teasing the existence of the Injustice Society and showing off Pat Dugan’s robotic armor, better known as S.T.R.I.P.E.

And though Stargirl is not technically part of the same Arrow-verse lineup of shows currently airing on the CW, the DC Universe produced shows will air new episodes on The CW the day after they debut on the streaming service.

Stargirl follows the story of Courtney Whitmore, played by Brec Bassinger, who is a smart, athletic and, above all else, kind girl. This high school teenager’s seemingly perfect life hits a major speedbump when her mother gets married and her new family moves from Los Angeles, California to Blue Valley, Nebraska.

Struggling to adapt to a new school, make new friends and deal with a new step-family, Courtney discovers her step-father, played by Luke Wilson, has a secret; he used to be the sidekick to the superhero Starman, played by Joel McHale. “Borrowing” the long-lost hero’s cosmic staff, Courtney becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.

Joining Brec Bassinger, Luke Wilson and Joel McHale on Stargirl are Amy Smart (The Butterfly Effect), Trae Romano (Robbie), Anjelika Washington (Shameless, Young Sheldon), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul), with Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Rex Tyler/Hourman, Brian Stapf as Wildcat, Henry Thomas as Dr. Mid-Nite, Joy Osmanski as Tigress, Neil Hopkins as Sportsmaster, and Nelson Lee as Dragon King.

Stargirl will premiere exclusively on DC Universe in the spring, with episodes airing the following day after their debut on The CW.
