The first Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer has arrived and lives up to the anticipation we’ve all been feeling!

The Skywalker saga continues this December with Episode VIII, enigmatically titled The Last Jedi.

Friday morning, during the Star Wars Celebration event that’s running through this weekend, the first trailer for the movie was released! Watch and rejoice:

A stunning Last Jedi poster was also revealed today:

The eighth installment of the Star Wars saga picks up where 2015’s The Force Awakens left off: Rey (Daisy Ridley) has sought out Luke (Mark Hamill) on a remote island, while Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) continues his descent into darkness.

Directed by Rian Johnson, the movie also features the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa; Fisher filmed all her scenes for the movie before she passed away late last year, and her family has further given permission for her image to be used in the ninth and (so far) final part of this generation’s Star Wars story.

The Last Jedi also stars John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, and Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, with Laura Dern, Benicio Del Toro and Kelly Marie Tran joining the franchise in new roles.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ hits cinemas on December 15, 2017
