Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a beautiful film, and incredibly successful at the box office, and a new video shows just how much CGI went into creating the movie.

There’s always a balance between visual effects and what actors actually have to work with on set. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a very visual effects based film, and this new video shows a comparison between what was filmed and what made it to the screen.

The box office numbers have flooded the news about The Force Awakens over the last few weeks, but the true magic came from the incredible VFX seen in the film. Director J.J. Abrams did an excellent job picking and choosing which scenes needed more green screen than others.

The video seen above gives us an exciting behind-the-scenes look into how much work goes into creating such an amazing looking movie. Star Wars: The Force Awakens might have always been bound to bring in billions, but the blending of visual effects makes it a movie worth watching over and over again.

Not often does a sci-fi movie not overdo its VFX, but Star Wars: The Force Awakens seemed to do a great job of feeling like you were really in a desert, or on an alien world without feeling like it was just a gigantic green screen shot.

The video shows just a glimpse of how much time and effort goes into making such a massive film look so beautiful on the big screen. It also didn’t fall victim to the 3D curse, and didn’t feel too dark with 3D glasses on. Seeing the film in IMAX was something special, and we can’t wait to see what’s to come in the future.
