The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2 are two of the best action movies in the last few years, and three stars of the film may appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

According to Twitch Film, Iko Uwais (The Raid: Redemption, The Raid 2), Yayan Ruhian (The Raid: Redemption, The Raid 2), and Cecep Arif Rahman (The Raid 2) will all appear in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

We’re treating this as a rumor for now, but Twitch Film’s founder, editor, and writer of this story Todd Brown produced The Raid: Redemption and its sequel, so if anyone would know if three of its stars were appearing in a new movie, even one as big as The Force Awakens, it would probably be him.

If Star Wars: The Force Awakens director and co-writer J.J. Abrams requires hand-to-hand combat, it would make sense to cast three actors from The Raid 2. The film and its predecessor are filled with scenes of unbelievably complex and physical hand-to-hand combat. It’s unlikely that The Force Awakens would require as much of them, and they’d be the perfect choices.

Abrams proved with his casting choices that the new Star Wars cast would be more diverse than most blockbusters, and casting three Indonesian actors only adds in making it more diverse still.

If the casting is indeed true, Uwais, Ruhian, and Rahman will join a cast that includes new Star Wars members John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Chong, Crystal Clarke, and Pip Andersen. Actors returning to the franchise include Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

If you’ve yet to discover The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2, they’re definitely worth seeking out. The Indonesian action films are amazing technical and physical achievements, and they’re two of the best made action films of all-time.

What do you think of these ‘The Raid’ stars joining ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’?
