In honor of May the 4th, the official Star Wars day, Vanity Fair has released some amazing new images from their Star Wars: The Force Awakens photoshoot!

Update: And now here’s Captain Phasma played by Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie! “First Order officer Captain Phasma surveys the rubble following an attack,” according to Vanity Fair.

Yesterday, Vanity Fair revealed their upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens cover, which blended the old with the new, putting Han Solo and Chewbacca up against new cast members Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

The magazine will feature a lengthy article and a photo spread by acclaimed photographer Annie Lebowitz, whose experiences on the film set were teased in an exclusive video.

And today, on May 4, 2015, we’re treated to some fantastic shots by Lebowitz, revealing some of the characters in full costume.

The most striking, of course, is this revealing image of Adam Driver, who we now know will be playing new villain Kylo Ren. He’s trekking through the snow, shadowed by up-to-no-good Stormtroopers loyal to the First Order:

Vanity Fair further reveals that yes, Kylo Ren is the owner of the much-discussed three-point light saber first seen in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer.

Next up is Lupita Nyong’o, face covered in digital tracking dots. Her character will be largely CGI, and is described only as a “pirate” named Maz Kanata:

Maz Kanata will have a castle, filled with “intergalactic riff-raff” including these fine ladies and gentlemen:

And finally there’s Oscar Isaac, suddenly looking a whole lot like Luke Skywalker (surely not a coincidence), standing proudly by his X-Wing. His character, a Resistance pilot, is named Poe Dameron:

There are more photos, of course, but we don’t want to give them all away — head on over to Vanity Fair and see for yourself!
