With Star Wars: The Force Awakens now out on DVD and Blu-ray, let’s take a more light-hearted look at the Lucasfilm epic with an Honest Trailer.

It’s no secret that we at Hypable all loved Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which debuted last December and sent the Star Wars fandom spiraling into a new era.

We’ve got new heroes Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) competing for our hearts, everyone’s space boyfriend Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and the old gang Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Luke (Mark Hamill) all back together. What’s not to like?

Well. Lets the Honest Trailer guys point out some fun yet uncomfortable truths about the Force Awakens fan madness:

They start by pointing out all of the insane expectations for The Force Awakens, that were somehow met! Although, rightfully, the Honest Trailer also points out the many A New Hope parallels that everyone (including us!) have been harping on about…

It goes into a hilarious back-and-forth between the “original” trailer voice guy and the new-era Honest Trailer man. We see what you did there, Screen Junkies.

So which trailer guy do you stand with? Was The Force Awakens too similar to A New Hope, or did it manage the impossible and actually satisfy both fans of the original saga scared of their fandom changing too much and newcomers hoping to see the Star Wars franchise enter a new era of storytelling?
