To the surprise of no one, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has broken the ticket sales record, speeding past the $1 billion mark globally.

Not only has everyone and their extended family seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but they’ve probably seen it more than once. Because nearly two weeks after its initial release, the J.J. Abrams smash hit continues to break every record imaginable.

Variety reports that the hugely anticipated Star Wars sequel absolutely smashed its holiday box office competition, taking in $153.5 million domestically over the holidays. As Rentrak senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian notes, “This would have been a respectable opening weekend for Star Wars.”

Thus, The Force Awakens has also broken the fastest-to-$1-billion record previously held by this year’s Jurassic World, reaching the mark in only 12 days. Jurassic World took 13, psssh. We guess that, in the fight of aliens vs dinosaurs, Han shot first.

We’ll have to see if The Force Awakens beats out James Cameron’s Avatar, which still clings on to its record for the highest-grossing film of all time.

The new Star Wars story set up in The Force Awakens will continue in 2017, with Episode VIII directed by Rian Johnson. Next year, Felicity Jones headlines Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is an anthology film set between the events of the prequel and original trilogies. That film is directed by Gareth Edwards.
