A Star Wars video helpfully condenses all six films to just three minutes of footage.

Scenario: All this hype for The Force Awakens has got you hot and bothered, and you are not gonna miss the movie event of the year. Only problem? Somehow, impossibly, you’ve managed to go your whole life without ever seeing a Star Wars film.

More likely scenario: It’s been a while since you watched the prequels (because… why would you ever re-watch those?), and you’re beginning to worry you won’t remember important details — like the origin of Jar-Jar, which is certainly going to be a key plot point in Episode VII.

Don’t worry young Padawans, for this Star Wars supercut from Eclectic Method is here to help.

Condensed into just three minutes, this will tell you pretty much everything you need to know about the epic saga so far — but beware of chipmunk voices:

Note that this video cuts together just the most important bits. So no Gungans, sorry not sorry.

And, if you’d prefer a video that, you know, actually explains things, we recommend this beautifully illustrated recap from TL;DW:

We still highly recommend that you re-watch the original trilogy ahead of The Force Awakens, of course.

The seventh installment takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi, following new characters Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), but also catching up with our old friends Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

Other returning players include R2-D2 (Kenny Baker), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew).

‘The Force Awakens’ is directed by J.J. Abrams, and premieres December 18
