Two new previews for Star Wars Rebels season 1, episode 13 tease the return of a very familiar face. Er, mask.

Search your heart, you know it to be true! The Star Wars Rebels season finale, titled “Fire Across the Galaxy,” will feature an appearance from Darth Vader himself. James Earl Jones will presumably reprise his role as the machine-ified Anakin Skywalker, perhaps returning in an attempt to terrify the rebels into submission.

If anyone has a shot at that, it’s Vader.

The previews for Star Wars Rebels season 1, episode 13 make it clear the return of Darth Vader is far from the only threat facing the intrepid crew of the Ghost.

The rebels will face their most dangerous mission yet in “Fire Across the Galaxy,” when they spare no risk to rescue Kanan from the Empire. But the Inquisitor will apparently be waiting for them – well, specifically for Ezra – and it looks like the long-awaited clash will have devastating consequences.

No wonder Vader’s breathing so hard in those promos.

James Earl Jones has voiced Darth Vader for Star Wars Rebels once before, in a brief scene added to the debut broadcast of “Spark of Rebellion.” But the Sith lord appeared only as a holonet broadcast, and not an imminent threat; this time, it seems, Vader will be live and in-person.

Well… as “live” and person-ish as Skywalker Sr. can get at this point.

As for what other surprises the Star Wars Rebels season finale may hold – the reveal of Fulcrum? A major death? Chopper’s revenge? – we’ll just have to wait and see.

Star Wars Rebels season 1, episode 13, “Fire Across the Galaxy,” will air on Monday, March 2 at 9:00 p.m. on Disney XD.
