A new Star Wars Rebels season 2 trailer has been released, teasing parental drama, the Seventh Sister, and trials for Sabine.

The trailer was screened today at New York Comic Con, and considerably increases both the stakes and the mystery awaiting fans in Star Wars Rebels season 2.

Combining clips from “The Siege of Lothal” along with new footage from season 2, the trailer seems to start off on a hopeful note. But with enemies attacking the Ghost crew from every angle, that attitude quickly makes way for much darker imagery.

Inquisitors are stealing children? Sabine used to be a bounty hunter? Ashoka goes toe-to-toe (or saber-to-sabers) with the Seventh Sister? And Ezra’s parents are alive?

Clearly, Star Wars Rebels season 2 has no shortage of dramatic stories to tell. And that’s not even including the additions of Clone Wars characters like Captain Rex and the pirate Hondo Ohnaka, plus some seriously strange looking spacecraft — just because we needed to switch things up a little.

A centerpiece of the promotion for Star Wars Rebels season 2 is the introduction of Sarah Michelle Gellar as the Seventh Sister. A ruthless new Inquisitor who uses her wit as well as her strength, the Seventh Sister’s razor-like approach to her opponents is on full display in a new clip from the upcoming season.

“It’s always fun to play characters you least expect,” Gellar says of the character. “She’s such an intelligent, such a thinking villain. “Plus,” she joked, the bad guys “get way better outfits.”

Still, fans will have to wait just a little while longer to see the Seventh Sister — and her outfits — in full glory. Star Wars Rebels season 2 returns on Oct. 14 with “The Lost Commanders,” a two-part episode bringing the Ghost crew in close contact with surviving troopers from the Clone Wars – a rendezvous which may have lasting consequences for everyone involved.

Star Wars Rebels season 2 airs on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. on DisneyXD.
