Ahsoka Tano takes center stage in a new video that hints at chilling developments in the Star Wars Rebels season 2 premiere.

The premiere episode, titled “Siege of Lothal,” looks like it will involve plenty of drama for Ahsoka. Anakin Skywalker’s former Padawan joined up with the crew of the Ghost after revealing her identity as the rebel leader Fulcrum in the season 1 finale.

A new featurette looks back on the character’s history in The Clone Wars, charting the path of Ahsoka’s growth, and looking ahead at the challenges she might face in Star Wars Rebels season 2.

“Ahsoka in Clone Wars was more like Ezra,” Ashley Eckstein explained of her character’s journey. “She was the student, she was the Padawan. Now she’s more of like the mentor, or the teacher — she’s more like Obi-Wan, or Yoda.”

According to executive producer Dave Filoni, Ahsoka is “very much trying to find out what Ezra and Kanan are about” in season 2. “But,” he adds, “She’s also trying to figure out what the Dark Side of the Force is up to… because there’s a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that has some connection to her.”

This connection, of course, is the link Ahsoka still shares with Anakin Skywalker — now coming into his own as Darth Vader. And true to many fans’ nervous predictions, Filoni is clear on who would emerge the victor from a fight between the two former Jedi.

“Absolutely he could [defeat her],” Filoni confirms, “Because he taught her.”

And defeating Ahsoka may already be on Vader’s to-do list.

“Vader would look at Ahsoka and want to destroy her,” Filoni warms. “She is a living memory of everything he once was — and everything he once had.”

On that ominous note, the newly-released synopsis for “The Siege of Lothal” takes on an even darker tone.

“After an absence while fighting with the rebel fleet,” Disney XD says, “the Rebel crew returns to Lothal to save a defecting Imperial officer, only to be confronted by Darth Vader.”

James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Vader in Star Wars Rebels season 2; while exciting for fans, this may prove to be terrible news for Ahsoka Tano and the crew of the Ghost.

The Star Wars Rebels season 2 premiere airs on Saturday, June 20 at 9:00 p.m. on Disney XD.
