Kanan and Rex must put aside their differences to rescue Ezra when Star Wars Rebels 2×09 airs tonight.
The episode, titled “Stealth Strike,” will return to a beloved Star Wars trope — good guys dressing up as stormtroopers.
“A new Imperial ship captures Ezra, Commander Sato, and his crew, forcing Kanan and the clone to go undercover as stormtroopers to free the rebels,” Disney XD teases.
It was Sabine who had the Imperial run-in on last week’s episode of Star Wars Rebels, during a mission to retrieve a droid that carried crucial information for the Rebellion. But the mission brought Sabine face-to-face with her old friend Ketsu, who continues to work as a bounty hunter. Animosity simmered between the two young women, but they eventually worked together to evade the Empire — and Ketsu let Sabine keep the droid.
A different kind of teamwork will take center stage in Star Wars Rebels 2×09, as Kanan and Rex push past their own animosity to rescue Ezra. The clone and the Jedi have managed to put their differences aside before, but only in moments of crisis; clearly, they still have some trust to build.
The second clip from “Stealth Strike” makes it clear that — in classic Star Wars fashion — no infiltration of an Imperial vessel can go quite as smoothly as planned. But hey, at least Rex and Kanan have a sense of humor about it.
