Star Wars: The Last Jedi is in the metaphorical can. The director of Episode 8 announced the completion of post-production on Friday.

Post-production refers to most of the process that takes place after cameras have finished rolling. This means that editing, special effects, sound, etc., are all complete. In other words, we could totally watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi if we were a fly on the wall in Kathleen Kennedy’s office.

“Aaaand that’s a wrap on the hardest working post production team in the galaxy,” director Rian Johnson announced. “Going to miss sitting in dark rooms with these goobers.”

We’ve only seen one trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi (way back in April!), which is a bit surprising considering we’re only three months away from the movie hitting theaters. Earlier this week series star Mark Hamill (Luke) may’ve accidentally revealed the release date for the second trailer.

Johnson was being considered to direct Star Wars: Episode 9 after Colin Trevorrow and Kennedy clashed behind the scenes. Johnson later confirmed that he had passed on the opportunity, and the gig went to Force Awakens helmer J.J. Abrams.
