Rey, Leia, Ahsoka, and Jyn are just a few of the Star Wars heroines whose stories will be told in Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.

The brief animated shorts will share new and inspiring stories of the women of Star Wars. From Rey’s adventures on Jakku to the incomparable heroics of Princess Leia, Star Wars: Forces of Destiny aims to illustrate the smaller, everyday moments of valor that make these characters legendary.

Lupita Nyong’o will reprise her role as the quirky and wise Maz Kanata to narrate the shorts, and other big Star Wars names are lending their voices to the project as well. On the live-action end, Daisy Ridley returns as Rey and Felicity Jones reprises Jyn Erso. From the realm of animation, Ashley Eckstein continues to voice Ahsoka Tano, and Tiya Sircar provides the voice of Sabine.

Shelby Young of American Horror Story will take on the role of Princess Leia in the Star Wars: Forces of Destiny shorts.

The shorts will debut on Disney’s YouTube channel in July, and more shorts will air on DisneyXD in the fall. Fans will also be able to collect “Adventure Figures” of the Star Wars heroines from Hasbro, in a new line that will offer dolls with multiple points of articulation — in other words, Rey will actually be able to swing that lightsaber!

“Star Wars heroines are unique, and we wanted to represent that in the product line for Star Wars Forces of Destiny,” says Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media, adding that the Adventure Figures “celebrate the power and stories of these incredible characters and allow kids to recreate their most heroic moments at home.”

Other tie-in material, including books, clothes, and other toys, will also be developed in the Star Wars: Forces of Destiny line. Lucky fans at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando can get an early look at the dolls and products this weekend.
