Star Wars Episode VII production is fast approaching and new rumors have some big names in contention to star in the forthcoming blockbuster: Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron.

Obviously, rumors are rampant with production and casting details being kept under wraps, but we figured we’d share these tidbits anyway.

According to a report from Latino Review, J.J. Abrahms and his Star Wars team are looking at a few stars to join returning cast members.

According to the report, Ryan Gosling has been tapped to play the son of Luke Skywalker. As we said, this is a rumor with no confirmation from anyone from the Star Wars camp, but the 32-year-old star is around the right age to play Darth Vader’s grandson.

The report has Gosling auditioning for the role with the film’s producers over the last week.

Another star mentioned to have auditioned for an unspecified role is High School Musical star Zac Efron. The website speculated that Efron more than likely to audition one of Han Solo and Leia’s kids.

The report also named Leonardo DiCaprio as a star who was in talks, but had to decline to work on another big project. There was also speculation that DiCaprio is developing a project based on the sci-fi anime epic, Robotech, but lets just stick with Star Wars for now.

Disney, Abrahms, and the Episode VII team were noticeably absent from last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, but fear not, the D-23 expo is less than one month away.

We expect (or at least we hope) to hear at least a few details about the upcoming film. Once we hear anything close to a confirmation, we will bring it straight to you!
