The latest Star Wars: Episode VII rumors say that the first film in the new trilogy will focus on our heroes from the original trilogy.

After the slew of rumors that have come out in the past few months, The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision decided to do some digging of their own, and they’ve come up with some really interesting information.

These new rumors include some exciting hints about the state of the script.

Apparently, when Academy Award winning screenwriter Michael Arndt was writing the script, Star Wars: Episode VII focused on the children of the trio from the original trilogy: Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo.

As we all know, director J.J. Abrams replaced Arndt with himself and Empire Strikes Back screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan. Until now, we didn’t know why, but it appears we may now have an answer.

THR says that the new script shifts the focus to Luke, Leia, and Han for one final time in Star Wars: Episode VII. Their children will take supporting roles in the film, but those roles will become the lead roles in Episode VIII and IX.

The rumors on who would be cast in Episode VII have been numerous, but as the script has gone through heavy changes those rumors are now unlikely to hold much weight. Luckily, THR has some new ones to throw in the mix, and these new names would be very big and exciting if they were indeed to get cast.

THR reiterates that Abrams is talking to “everyone,” and that everyone includes Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Hugo Weaving (The Matrix), and Adam Driver (Girls). No role is known for Fassbender or Driver, but apparently Weaving met with Abrams to discuss the role of an Imperial commander.

THR also confirms that the recent rumor of Breaking Bad‘s Jesse Plemons possibly joining the cast is true, but he is only one name being considered for the role.

These are all still rumors, but this is certainly the most we’ve had to chew on in quite some time. While it is possible that none of these rumors will come true in the end, it does mean that we are getting closer and closer to finding things out for real, and that is very exciting to think about.
