Star Wars: Episode VII has added another actress to its cast.

Earlier in the day a report from Latino Review claimed that 24: Live Another Day actress Christina Chong has joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Sources close to Variety have confirmed the casting.

The casting shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise after the actress took to her twitter to retweet an image back when Star Wars: Episode VII casting began. Here’s that tweet:

It’s not currently known what kind of role Chong will have in Star Wars but it’s expected that the role will be minor. The actress does have talents in parkour, so perhaps her role will take use of those talents. Here’s her parkour reel:

The casting of Chong continues the trend of adding actors to the Star Wars franchise that aren’t incredibly well known. Like Chong, relative unknowns Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen (another actor talented in parkour) were recently cast to go along with Daisy Ridley, and the rest of the new cast is filled with actors of varying levels of stardom. Other new actors in the cast are John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, and Gwendoline Christie. Returning to the series are Harrison Ford Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

We’re really impressed with the cast that has been put together for Star Wars: Episode VII. There was some worry originally by some that there weren’t enough females in the cast, but that hasn’t been true of recent castings.
