It’s been both rumored and denied that Benedict Cumberbatch would be involved in Star Wars: Episode VII, but when the actor was asked, he said he’d love to.

After the rumors of his involvement in Star Wars: Episode VII were rapidly growing last week, it’s no surprise that Benedict Cumberbatch was asked to comment at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend.

Two different sources had quotes from him that include interesting information. The first is from Access Hollywood:

This is the simple truth. J.J. and I have worked together before. I would love to work with him again. No offer has been made. That is that. And that is that.

It’s interesting to note that Cumberbatch definitely doesn’t deny anything besides an offer being made. The quote leaves the door open to any result if an offer were indeed to be made.

The next quote is from The Telegraph:

Of course I’d love to do Star Wars and work with J.J. Abrams again because we had such a good time on Star Trek. But nobody has been cast and there are no offers out to anyone apart from the regulars who are returning. So that’s that rumour quashed… We’ll have to wait and see.

Juicy. It’s clear Cumberbatch would love to do Star Wars: Episode VII, though it’s obviously uncertain that he will. It certainly could end up with him wishing he could do it, but being unable due to his schedule. However, for now it remains a mystery. And what an exciting mystery it is.
