Star Trek: Picard released a new featurette that sets the tone and mood for the upcoming Star Trek spinoff series.

CBS All Access has released a brand new Star Trek: Picard featurette to get you excited about the new Star Trek spinoff show two days ahead of its U.S. premiere.

In it, we hear from titular star Patrick Stewart along with executive producers, including Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman, who talk about the new chapter in Picard’s life and the journey he’s taken in the 20 years since Star Trek: Nemesis premiered.

Though the featurette doesn’t give too many details about the overall plot of the upcoming show, it does preview for fans the tone and mood of the spinoff, giving us interesting tidbits about where Picard currently is in his life, and who he has become in the 20 years since he commanded the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Check out the featurette below!

Star Trek: Picard will focus on the next chapter Picard’s life after Star Trek: Next Generation. Though plot details have been kept strictly under wraps, Star Trek: Discovery creator Alex Kurtzman spoke about the show at PaleyFest in March, saying that, “it’s going to be a very different show from Discovery…” one that is “going to be a very thoughtful, psychological portrait in a lot of ways.”

Along with Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, the show will bring back franchise favorites that include Brent Spiner as Data, Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh the Borg, Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, as well as Marina Sirtis as Commander Deanna Troi and Jonathan Frakes as Riker.

In addition to familiar faces, the new series will likewise include Santiago Cabrera from Big Little Lies, Michelle Hurd from Blindspot, Evan Evagora from Fantasy Island, Alison Pill from The Newsroom, Harry Treadaway from Penny Dreadful, and Isa Briones American Crime Story: Versace.

Picard debuts in the U.S. on January 23, 2020 on CBS All Access and will be available internationally on January 24, 2020, on Amazon Prime Video.
