Star Trek Into Darkness‘ villain has been a great mystery over the past few months. We’ve known that Benedict Cumberbatch would play him, and we’ve known that he calls the villain John Harrison.

So who is it really? Spoiler warning!

After months of speculation, we now know the Star Trek Into Darkness villain is indeed Khan.

The information has been confirmed by many people who are now seeing the film and reviewing the film as it makes its premiere across the world.

The Star Trek Into Darkness villain rumors began early on, and we’ve been monitoring the situation throughout the build up to the film’s release. At one point, we watched as Entertainment Weekly unintentionally revealed the character before quickly hiding their mistake.

In December, while doing some early promotion for the film, Cumberbatch spoke about his Star Trek Into Darkness villain and referred to him as John Harrison. He described him as “a terrorist and an extraordinary character in his own right. He’s somebody who is not your two-dimensional cookie cutter villain,” he explained. “He’s got an extraordinary purpose, and I hope that at one point or another in the film you might even sympathize with the reasons he’s doing what he’s doing — not necessarily the means and the destruction he causes. But it was a great ride, not just because he’s the bad guy and the antagonist but also because he has a purpose and it’s hard not to see his point of view at certain points.”

Cumberbatch kept a straight face and was seemingly putting on a full act during the video interview.

In a unique new clip from Star Trek Into Darkness, Benedict Cumberbatch’s character gives Spock, played by Zachary Quinto, a tongue lashing about his fate in this new clip.

With just under a month to go until Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters, various promotional material is springing up. Just last week we had the final trailer, which featured some new footage and a new side to Captain Kirk as he decides to go after Khan.

Star Trek Into Darkness opens May 17 in the United States, and two days earlier in domestic IMAX theaters.

How not surprised are you by news that Cumberbatch’s Star Trek Into Darkness villain is indeed Khan?
