The release date for Star Trek Into Darkness on DVD/Blu-ray has been revealed along with a behind-the-scenes clip.

Star Trek Into Darkness will be released on DVD/Blu-ray on September 10. Star Trek news has, predictably, been quiet as of late, and it’s a nice surprise to find out that the DVD/Blu-ray will be released in only two months.

Also released today is this Blu-ray clip that shows a behind-the-scenes look at the fight between Spock and Khan at the end of the film:

It’s really interesting to see how they built the futuristic garbage truck set to turn throughout the day to use the available sunlight. When a scene like that is being shot over the course of four days, being able to shoot at any time during the day is crucial.

If they hadn’t been able to manipulate the set to face the sun, it’s possible that a four day shoot could have turned into a multiple week shoot, and time is most definitely money in this case. They’ve also released the Blu-ray cover art, check it out below:

It’s also interesting to learn just how physically gruesome a fight scene like this one can be. Doing a fight over and over for four days straight in the heat of the sun while wearing Starfleet gear sounds a lot tougher once you start to think about it.

How excited are you for the ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Blu-ray release?
