Ethan Peck has been tapped to play Spock in Star Trek: Discovery‘s second season on CBS All Access.

As the Enterprise prepares to team up with Discovery in season 2, the question of whether or not Spock will appear began to circulate. Confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con, the casting announcement of one of the Original Series’ most beloved characters is finally here — welcome Ethan Peck as Spock to Star Trek: Discovery season 2.

Peck is the grandson of Gregory Peck (yes, Atticus Finch of 1962’s To Kill a Mockingbird). Like his famous grandpa, Peck has been acting for quite some time. In fact, you may not have known his name, but can likely recall his appearance in Passport to Paris. Other credits include The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and In Time as well as the TV series, 10 Things I Hate About You.

Ethan Peck joins the already announced Enterprise cast of Anson Mount as Christopher Pike and Rebecca Romijn as Number One!

Alex Kurtzman commented on the casting in a press release saying, “The great Leonard Nimoy, then the brilliant Zachary Quinto, brought incomparable humanity to a character forever torn between logic and emotion. We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role. An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning.

Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zack, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock’s legacy. In that spirit, we’re thrilled to welcome him to the family.”

It is unclear where in the timeline we will meet Spock. As we found out at Comic-Con the catalyst of season 2 will be Michael Burnham searching for her foster brother. In the trailer, Burnham can be seen standing in Spock’s empty quarters.
