The close of Star Trek: Discovery‘s first season left viewers with a glimpse of an all too familiar ship. We now know who will be playing the Captain.
The arrival of the Enterprise in the season 1 finale of Star Trek: Discovery left one major role up for casting speculation — Who would play Captain Christopher Pike? It didn’t take too long for fans to find out! Anson Mount will be stepping into the role when Discovery returns to CBS All Access.
Anson Mount tweeted his excitement about joining Starfleet.

Currently starring in Marvel’s Inhumans on ABC, Mount’s casting is not a good omen for the series’ future.

Who else is on the bridge of the Enterprise? Only future casting will reveal those details. In an interview with Variety, co-creator Alex Kurtzman confirmed that the Enterprise will not be focus of season 2.
Phew. After season 1 spent some time trying to make characters from The Original Series relevant in their first chapter, it’s a relief to see they will continue integrating, yet not relying on TOS to move forward.
