With the inclusion of Roddenberry Entertainment for the latest Stark Trek installation, fans are getting more hyped than ever for the new series.

As all the biggest Star Trek fans know, Gene Roddenberry was the genius creator of the original Star Trek television series.

Now, his son has been added as an executive producer to the new series. With him also comes Trevor Roth, the chief operating officer of Roddenberry Entertainment.

“Gene Roddenberry, the Great Bird of the Galaxy, left a finely feathered nest for all who love Star Trek to enjoy,” says showrunner Bryan Fuller. “And it is only fitting that Rod Roddenberry and Roddenberry Entertainment join our new Trek adventure to ensure that his father’s legacy of hope for the future and infinite diversity in infinite combinations runs through our tales as Gene Roddenberry intended.”

“Moral dilemmas, human issues, complex characters, and a genuine sense of optimism: These are the cornerstones of Star Trek and are what have made it such an influential and beloved franchise for the last 50 years,” adds the younger Roddenberry. “While I will always be humbled by its legacy and the legions of fans who are its guardians, it’s a genuine honor to be joining a team of imaginative and incredibly capable individuals whose endeavor it is to uphold the tenants of Star Trek’s legacy while bringing it to audiences in a new era and on a contemporary platform.”

On Feb. 29, we reported that Nicholas Meyer had joined the show’s writing staff. Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci will develop the series, which will feature new characters exploring “dramatic contemporary themes.” The series will debut in 2017 on CBS All Access, which has a monthly subscription fee of $6. The series will also be available on TV stations around the world after the U.S. debuts the first airing of the episodes.
