Star Trek 3 has been looking for a title for quite a while, but according to a new report, the third Star Trek movie will be titled Star Trek Beyond.

When we found out that Star Trek 3 was being written by actor/writer Simon Pegg, it made us a little more excited after losing director J.J. Abrams to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And yesterday, Pegg revealed that he’s writing a “kick-ass role” for Idris Elba, which leads us to believe he’ll be the main villain.

But, more importantly, the third Star Trek film has been missing an official title, and Star Trek fan site Trek Movie has released a new report that says the new title for the film is Star Trek Beyond. What makes us believe it a bit more is that the name has been registered with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), which is normally what happens as the film starts production.

This could also be a decoy name that they’re using for the film as J.J. Abrams production company, Bad Robot, is normally very secretive with their projects, but this sounds like a proper title compared to decoys we’ve seen used in the past with other films.

It makes sense, as Star Trek Into Darkness ended with the crew of the Starship Enterprise leaving for a long journey away from Earth, and Simon Pegg has said that they plan on exploring the fact that they won’t really be doing much, if anything at all, on Earth.

We’re liking the name, especially considering it’s not insanely long like every other movie title that seems to be used in the last few years, so be sure to let us know what you think about Star Trek Beyond possibly being the official title for the movie.

Paramount has set Star Trek 3’s release date for July 8, 2016. The title may still be a placeholder, but we look forward to finding out if Star Trek Beyond will be the official title in the next few weeks.
