Kingsman’s Sofia Boutella has landed the female lead in Star Trek 3, which is being co-written by actor/writer Simon Pegg.

When we found out that Star Trek 3 was being written by actor/writer Simon Pegg, it made us a little more excited after losing director J.J. Abrams to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Now we’ve learned that Kingsman: The Secret Service actress Sofia Boutella has been cast as the female lead in the third Star Trek film, and while her role is currently unknown, there’s talk that she could actually be a villain.

Deadline reports that the film, which is being directed by Justin Lin, will include all the previous cast members like Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, and Simon Pegg. Into Darkness had Benedict Cumberbatch as its villain, and it’ll be a tough act to follow if the rumors about Boutella’s role turn out to be true.

We’re excited to hear some casting news about the film, as it means Star Trek 3 is continuing its long journey to production, and we look forward to finding out who the Kingsman: The Secret Service actress will be playing in the movie.

Sofia Boutella was born on April 6, 1982 in Algeria. She’s most recently known for her role in the hit film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, where she kicked some major ass, but she’s also an incredible dancer, so we look forward to seeing what she’ll do in the film. She seems like a perfect fit for the excellent Star Trek cast that J.J. Abrams originally put together.

Paramount has set Star Trek 3’s release date for July 8, 2016. The title is a placeholder, so we look forward to finding out the official title in the next few months.
