Rejoice, Spider-Man fans! Sony and Disney have managed to strike a deal that puts the webslinger back in the world of the MCU for one more movie.

What a tumultuous few months it’s been for fans of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Earlier this summer, Sony and Disney had a very public breakup over the character, with the two studios unable to strike a deal over one of their most profitable characters. Sony walked away from the table with the full rights to the character in hand, leaving Disney without the hero it had set up to inherit Tony Stark’s mantle.

However, it seems that the high school it couple have managed to set aside their differences for one more dance, with THR breaking the news this morning that Sony and Disney will reunite for one more Spider-Man film, set to release on July 16, 2021.

As part of the arrangement, Spider-Man will also appear in a future Marvel Studios film. Amy Pascal will also produce through Pascal Pictures, as she has on the first two Holland-led films.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” said MCU mastermind Kevin Feige. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Amy Pascal of Sony was likewise excited that the two movie studios could reach a deal, saying that, “This is terrific. Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in ‘Far From Home’ and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes.”

The Marvel-produced Spider-Man film will release on July 16, 2021.
