The first full-length trailer for Sony’s animated Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse movie dropped earlier in the week, and it is already setting records.

Since Tuesday, June 5, the trailer has totaled 44 million views. Its viral share (32:1) was equaled only by Sausage Party. It beat out Into the Spider-Verse‘s teaser trailer (11:3) and Warner Bros.’ Lego Batman (11:4).

Across all social platforms, Into the Spider-Verse‘s full trailer received 26 million views. It also totaled 164K social conversations.

The animated movie takes place in an alternate timeline to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In it, Miles Morales takes on the mantle of Spider-Man, but is joined by several other Spidey heroes, like Spider-Gwen.

Into the Spider-Verse was written by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman are directing.

The movie also has a wealth of voice talent attached to the project. Miles Morales will be voiced by Shameik Moore (Dope), with Marshala Ali (Moonlight) and Brian Tyree (Atlanta) as Aaron and Jefferson Davis respectively. Additionally, Peter Parker will be voiced by Jake Johnson, and Gwen Stacy will be voiced by Hailee Steinfeld. Liev Schrieber will be taking on the role of Kingpin.

Into the Spider-Verse is set for release on December 14, 2018. We certainly can’t wait for Miles Morales to make his big screen debut, and hope that it won’t be long until he swings into the live-action sphere.
