Robert Downey Jr. will play a major role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and now another character from the Iron Man franchise has been added to the roster.

Tony can’t be without his Happy, right!?

Variety is reporting that Jon Favreau has joined the Spider-Man solo film starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker.

Favreau is also a heavy hitter behind the camera and has more than one tie to the Iron Man franchise, having directed the first two installments.

Both Marvel and Sony, who are working together for this flick, haven’t responded to Variety’s inquiries, but the site’s inside sources say it to be true.

It’s not surprising that Happy has joined Homecoming considering the large part he’s played in Tony Stark’s life, acting as a bodyguard, driver, and friend.

When we last saw him at the end of Iron Man 3, Happy was recovering from a serious accident thanks to the machinations of Aldrich Killian.

It’s likely Happy won’t have a huge role in Homecoming, which is currently shooting in Atlanta, but it’ll be nice to see him alongside Tony once again. Given his usual penchant for banter, you can probably expect a few great exchanges between him and Peter, too.

There’s been a lot of back and forth about the possibility of an Iron Man 4, but RDJ seems to be up for it, whether or not Marvel will actually move forward with the idea.

You never know, maybe Spider-Man: Homecoming will lay the groundwork for a fourth Iron Man solo film.

But first let’s worry about Homecoming. The most recent news about Zendaya’s role in the film has caused quite a stir, but plenty of Marvel’s finest, including James Gunn, have defended the decision (and rightly so).

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters in July 2017 and also stars Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover, Logan Marshall-Green, Martin Starr, Hannibal Buress, Abraham Attah, Tony Revolori, and Angourie Rice.
