Two major superhero films have lined up villains in the past 24 hours.

First, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming has cast another villain: Michael Chernus (Orange is the New Black, Captain Phillips) will play Phineas Mason the Tinkerer. According to Deadline, the character will “play opposite” Michael Keaton’s villain The Vulture, so it sounds like the two will be working together.

According to the Marvel Wikia, the Tinkerer “possesses extensive knowledge in a wide variety of scientific disciplines, as well as a high degree of expertise in designing and manufacturing innovative weapons and devices, even by using parts from pre-existing devices as unsophisticated as a color television set or an automatic gun.”

Second, Warner Brothers’ Aquaman solo movie has selected its villain: Black Manta.

The Wrap reports Black Manta “has had several distinct origin stories over the years. In the latest version, Aquaman killed his father in retaliation for a murder committed by the young Black Manta. So begins Black Manta’s quest for revenge.”

We still don’t know who will take on the role of Black Manta.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently filming and will hit theaters next July. Aquaman will open just over a year later in July 2018. Each made a cameo in Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice respectively to get audiences ready for their solo films.
