The Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credits scene has had fans talking since the film premiere, and Cobie Smulders is offering her thoughts.

If you haven’t seen Spider-Man: Far From Home yet, this is your official spoiler warning!

Spider-Man: Far From Home was, for many, a great way to return to the MCU after the Big Feelings we all had to process through watching Avenger: Endgame. The movie itself did a great job bringing us back into the MCU after Endgame, but it featured a post-credits scene that rocked all of our worlds and had us questioning what was real and what wasn’t in the MCU.

The Far From Home post-credits scene featured a moment that revealed Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to be Skrulls. Naturally, that made everyone wonder what the heck was going on.

How long had Maria and Nick been Skrulls? Was this a relatively new development, or have two of our favorite agents been alien impersonators for years?

Cobie Smulders chatted with The Hollywood Reporter about the big reveal, and apparently, the scene was made during post-production. That means Smulders wasn’t aware of Maria’s potential Skrull identity until well after she had completed her work on the movie.

As Smulders explained to THR, “Literally a week before the movie came out, I found out from Kevin [Feige] that they shot the extra scene [with Maria and Nick]. It was added [during postproduction]. That driving footage is from the first scene that got cut out of the movie.”

Of course, this reveal has made fans speculate just how long Maria Hill has been a Skrull. The internet is full of theories, some saying Maria has been a Skrull as far back as the original Avengers movie.

For her part, Smulders doesn’t agree: “They could change it to be that way [Maria Hill being a Skrull since Avengers], but in my mind — no. I don’t know where she is, but my hope is that she’s on vacation somewhere. In this world, she’s probably just on some other mission.”

So how long have Hill and Fury been Skrulls? Are they okay, or has some terrible fate befallen them? Hopefully Marvel won’t make us wait too long to find out!
