Looks like Spider-Man 3 will find Peter Parker spending some quality time with Doctor Strange.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Benedict Cumberbatch has officially joined the cast of Spider-Man 3.

Cumberbatch will be reprising his role as Doctor Strange and joining actor Tom Holland for the threequel.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ joint venture has notably featured a slew of familiar faces in mentor roles as Holland’s Peter Parker grapples with balancing his newfound spider powers in conjunction with not trying to miss out on being a normal teenager.

Notably, Spider-Man: Homecoming found Robert Downey Jr., returning to reprise his role as Tony Stark in an effort to take Peter under his wing. Following Iron Man’s demise at the end of Avengers: Endgame, it was Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) who filled the void as a mentor for the young superhero in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Cumberbatch isn’t the only actor set to join Holland in Spider-Man 3. The Sherlock vet’s involvement in the third film comes hot on the heels of word that Jamie Foxx has also signed on to co-star in the film.’

Foxx, who is no stranger to the Spiderverse is set to reprise his role as Electro— the supervillain he first portrayed as part of 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 starring Andrew Garfield.

Spider-Man 3 is expected to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
