If you’ve watched the South Park documentary 6 Days To Air, you know that new episodes are finished literally hours before they are to air on Comedy Central.

That down-to-the-wire production style has finally caught up with the showrunners.

South Park Studios announced on Wednesday that their new episode “GOTH KIDS 3: DAWN OF THE POSERS” will not air because of a power outage last night that left the studio offline for hours.

“From animation to rendering to editing and sound, all of our computers were down for hours and we were unable to finish episode 1704,” they write on their website.

Added South Park mastermind Trey Parker, “It sucks to miss an air date but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen.”

This is the first time an episode has ever had to have been canceled because it is unable to meet the deadline. The episode will now air next Wednesday, October 23.

Tonight Comedy Central will air an encore episode – “Scott Tenorman Must Die” – as a substitute. It will be live-tweeted by the creators.

South Park is currently in season 17 and has been on air since 1997. The aforementioned South Park documentary titled 6 Days To Air looks at the fast-paced production of each episode and is available on Netflix.
