Soundtrack, the new musical drama series coming to Netflix just released its first trailer, and it will make you want to stand up and sing.

Netflix is bringing us a new musical drama series called Soundtrack. The show comes to us from Quantico creator and Smash showrunner Joshua Safran and looks like an exciting new take on musical television shows.

In the first Soundtrack trailer, we see the characters representing the power of music in their lives. How songs and music have the perfect way of describing some of the deepest emotions in our lives, and that is because, as the show’s lead Paul James says, “Every song is a love song. Each one of us has a soundtrack, and it tells the story of all we have loved.”

Check out the trailer below to see how music and songs punctuate the love stories we’ll be seeing on Soundtrack.

While many musical television shows take a more comedic angle to match the lightheartedness of the musical genre, Soundtrack is leaning more towards drama. The show will feature the love stories about, as the official synopsis explains, “a diverse, disparate group of people in contemporary Los Angeles through the music that lives inside their hearts and minds.”

Soundtrack was initially developed for Fox and was called Mixtape before it found its way to Netflix. But it has got quite the powerhouse cast that has most certainly made Fox’s loss Netflix’s big gain.

Not only does Soundtrack have a unique premise, but it also has a pretty impressive cast. In addition to starring Paul James, the show also features Jenna Dewan, La La Land ’s Callie Hernandez, Revenge ’s Madeleine Stowe, and Robbie Fairchild from the upcoming Cats movie.

This is definitely a new show that any musical fan can’t miss. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait too much longer to check out Soundtrack, as it premieres only on Netflix on December 18.
