Bad news for Game of Thrones fans. Sophie Turner has revealed when we can expect to see the Starks return to our screens.

With the huge production value of Game of Thrones, we expect to wait a while between seasons. With so many characters, storylines and filming locations, the epic fantasy series doesn’t just come together overnight. It takes months of work and tons of people in pre-production, production, and post-production to make every season happen.

That being said, we were still expecting the final season of the drama to return to our screens sometime in 2018. That would fit with the usual release pattern of the series. However, according to Sophie Turner, that won’t be the case.

In an interview with Variety, Turner admitted, “Game of Thrones comes out in 2019, Dark Phoenix is in November, then I have a couple indie movies coming out.”

Although the claim has yet to be confirmed by anyone else, Turner seemed to be very certain in her statement. If the 2019 release is true, we still have over a year to wait before the final season of Game of Thrones premieres!

Turner didn’t say anything about when in 2019 we could expect Game of Thrones, so I guess we can still keep our fingers crossed for a January 1 release. The thought of the series being held until late 2019 seems unfathomable.

How do you feel about the alleged 2019 release of the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’?
