Sony is giving PlayStation Network credit to players seemingly at random via their digital Wallet. Also, Square Enix has released a teaser trailer for its mystery game Murdered: Soul Suspect.

As was reported by IGN.com, Sony is rewarding players for being a “loyal customer.” The amount of credit awarded is $10, but who is being “rewarded” doesn’t seem to have any rhyme or reason.

IGN speculated that the company is giving the $10 to those who had spent a given amount of money on the PSN over the past year. Some in the comments on their article agreed:

Others couldn’t quite figure out why they had been given the money:

While others wondered why they haven’t been rewarded yet:

We’re not exactly sure what triggers the free credit reward. However, it is clear that Sony strategically went through with this action this morning in lieu of its special PlayStation announcement today. Stay tuned to Hypable later on in the day for a live blog of the announcements during its 6 p.m. EST online NYC video stream.

In other gaming news, Square Enix has released a pretty teaser trailer for its latest non-Final Fantasy game, Murdered: Soul Suspect.

View that video from the game’s official YouTube page below:

The trailer reveals the first look at the game’s protagonist, who appears to be the cop character confirmed to be trying to solve the mystery of his own death. It seems as though the main character is already dead in this short amount of footage. He is shown as being transparent and ghostly in one shot, and in another, falls from a high height, which may be his death scene.

The game will release on PlayStation 3, XBox 360, and PC early next year, as was revealed in Square Enix’s press release that was shared this morning.

What do you think about the concept of Murdered: Soul Suspect? Did you receive the e-mail notification that your PSN account has be given the free $10 credit?
