Check out the top six nominees below and be sure to vote on which song deserve’s Hypable’s Song of the Summer title!

1. Robin Thicke – ‘Blurred Lines’

Despite the controversy around the video (see below), there’s no denying that this song was blasting through car speakers on the way to the beach everywhere this summer! And of course, let’s not forget the moment that made headlines all over the world following Robin Thicke’s performance of the song with Miley Cyrus (video also below) at MTV’s Video Music Awards.

2. Miley Cyrus – ‘We Can’t Stop’

Speaking of Miley Cyrus, let’s not forgot how popular “We Can’t Stop” was. Next to “Blurred Lines,” it was probably the most-played song of the summer. There’s no stopping Miley’s Bangerz (album coming October 8) when they catch on with mainstream radio. And, of course, don’t forget the controversial performance with Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards above.

3. Jay-Z featuring Justin Timberlake – ‘Holy Grail’

These two powerhouses went on a massively successful co-headlining tour this summer, selling out baseball stadiums with their latest albums 20/20 Experience and Magna Carter/Holy Grail.

Hypable staff writer Chelsea picks this song: “They declared themselves ‘Legends of the Summer’ and this song solidified it. ‘Suit and Tie’ seemed like a warm-up number compared to this song. It begs you to roll down your windows and put your shades on and pretend you know exactly what it’s like to be Jay-Z.”

4. Lorde – ‘Royals’

This song made a lot of buzz mainly because this girl and her amazing voice are only 16 years old! Her album, Pure Heroine, arrives September 27.

5. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis feat. Mary Lambert – ‘Same Love’

This song was released almost a year ago along with Mackelmore’s album The Heist, but this song picked up a lot of traction in the late spring and early summer and held its ground as a song we were all singing/rapping along to throughout the last few months. Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert capped the summer with a stunning performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, which included a surprise collaboration with Jennifer Hudson:

6. Avicii – ‘Wake Me Up’

If you were in the club, at a pool, in your car, or in the supermarket, this song had everyone jumping up and down all summer long! This unique blend of folk-meets-dance made a huge impact on mainstream radio this summer:

7. Daft Punk – ‘Get Lucky’

Much like Avicii’s “Wake Me Up,” it was impossible to go the entire summer 2013 without hearing this song at least one million times. The great part about this song being played so much is that it didn’t seem to get annoying like some others.

8. One Direction – ‘Best Song Ever’

Fan girls (and boys) went crazy this summer when One Direction released their latest single, “Best Song Ever,” ahead of their new movie This Is Us, which is in theaters now. It’s hard to not love this song, whether you’re a Directioner or not.

Hypable staff writer Kyle had this to say about why you should be voting for it: “One Direction’s ‘Best Song Ever’ brings back our favorite contemporary boy band for an amazing dance tune and feel-good mix. As they were starting to get passed up for Robin Thicke and Katy Perry, One Direction managed to release a summer hit and make a comeback before their new movie!”
